About us
In a modest garage in Heathcote, Christchurch, Allan and Judy Stack founded Stack Electrical in 1984. Allan and his apprentice initially focused on residential electrical services and new builds across Christchurch.
In 1985, Shell approached Allan for maintenance work at their Christchurch Airport hydrant and bulk fuel storage facility. That’s when Stack Electrical stepped into hazardous area electrical services, a niche in which we’ve consistently excelled ever since.
We slowly grew our reputation across New Zealand and expanded, establishing branches in Wellington and, most recently, Invercargill. This nationwide presence ensures superior electrical services and expertise across all industry sectors.
In 2016, David Stack took the reins, preserving the family legacy while instituting a more robust job management system. In 2022, we strategically shifted our focus to commercial, industrial, and hazardous area electrical services, staying at the forefront of industry standards.
Today, our tight-knit team of 26 skilled workers and Licensed Electricians delivers comprehensive solutions, from turnkey projects to personalised service. Our 24-hour call-out service ensures we’re always available for urgent needs. In June 2024, we celebrated 40 years in business, and for four decades, we’ve powered New Zealand—from Bluff to the Cape.
