Overview
Stack Electrical partnered with Exxon Mobil to complete critical radar upgrades at their Wellington and Bluff fuel tank facilities. This project was essential for modernising their tank monitoring systems and ensuring they met updated industry standards.
Scope of Work
The scope of the radar upgrade involved the relocation and upgrade of several vital systems, including:
- TankMaster: Upgraded to improve tank monitoring and fuel management capabilities.
- Floboss RTU: Relocated and updated to ensure precise data capture and communication with control systems.
- BEKA Displays: Installed new BEKA displays for enhanced readability and control of tank status at both sites.
- System Hub: The main system hub was upgraded to integrate all monitoring systems seamlessly.
In addition to these upgrades, Stack Electrical replaced power and communication cabling across the fuel tank sites. This involved installing new infrastructure to support the upgraded radar systems, ensuring reliable data transmission and minimising downtime risks. The radars on the fuel tanks were also replaced, providing accurate real-time level readings and ensuring the safety and efficiency of fuel storage operations.
Outcome
By the end of the project, Exxon Mobil received a fully modernized radar and monitoring system at both their Wellington and Bluff sites. These upgrades ensure: The new radars and upgraded systems provide precise and reliable fuel level data, critical for inventory management and operational decision-making. They reduce the risk of system failures and enhance safety in hazardous fuel storage environments. The new TankMaster, Floboss RTU, and BEKA displays work cohesively within the updated system hub, streamlining operations and allowing for easier control over tank systems.
Stack Electrical’s comprehensive approach and expertise in hazardous area installations ensured that Exxon Mobil’s tank facilities were equipped with cutting-edge technology and a reliable, compliant, and efficient monitoring system.
