Overview

Stack Electrical was contracted to upgrade the automation systems at Z Energy’s Dunedin Fryatt Street and Wickliffe Street terminals. The project involved replacing the outdated Compac C4000 terminal automation system, including bay load controllers and associated equipment, with a new DKI Flexlinc solution. The upgrade addressed the diminishing technical support and availability of spare parts for the aging Compac system, ensuring the terminals operated with modern, reliable technology.

Scope of Work

The scope of work included the complete installation of a new PLC system, SCADA, printer, and site access readers, along with the integration of these elements into Z Energy’s existing control systems and IT network. At the Wickliffe Street Terminal, the PLC was also replaced to enhance system compatibility and performance. The installation process required precise coordination, as it involved working within active hazardous areas, with careful attention to safety protocols and minimal disruption to ongoing terminal operations.

Outcome

The upgraded system now allows Z Energy to maintain efficient, safe, and fully functional operations at their Dunedin terminals. The new DKI Flexlinc solution provides enhanced control over critical processes, improved reliability, and streamlined integration with Z Energy’s broader operational framework, significantly boosting overall efficiency and safety compliance across the site.
