Road Science – Lyttelton Bitumen Tank LB11

Road Science supply superior road and pavement solutions throughout New Zealand. To ensure the successful installation of the largest heated bitumen tank in Australasia they turned to Stack Electrical because their expertise and more than 10 years’ experience in this field.

Stack Electrical supplied the works to repurpose an oil tank for transition to bitumen storage, it was the largest electrically heated bitumen in Australasia with a storage capacity of 5M litre, included a new switchboard room and control cabinets. Stack Electricals’ scope included:

• Cabling between sites, run through intermediate site – 100m run
• Installation of new mains to site.
• Street transformer kiosk upgrade.
• Control work and heating elements.

Stack Electrical were also responsible for full commissioning and handover of the installation, to Road Sciences complete satisfaction:

Road Science – Lyttelton PMB Plant

Stack Electrical continue to work closely with Road Science, including the PMB Plant Installation at Lyttelton. PMB or Polymer Modified Bitumen is the asphalt used for roading.

The scope for Stack Electrical on this project included:

• Site mains supply upgrading
• Upgrading the mains switchboard
• Upgrading the street transformer kiosk
• Installing a new submain to storage facility

Again, Stack Electrical supplied a full commissioning service including the control rate and complex dosing rates, and again to the satisfaction of Road Science:
